A Just Arsenal report says Ben White’s chances of returning to the England squad may depend on whether manager Thomas Tuchel calls him up. The report notes that the defender has missed several camps because of the timing of his injuries or because he was unavailable when the squad was selected. White has six international appearances, according to the report.
The report notes that some England fans may not sympathise with White because he left the national team camp during the 2022 World Cup and then asked not to be considered for selection for the remainder of Gareth Southgate’s tenure as manager. Various rumours have circulated about the reasons for his absence, but White has not publicly stated why he made that decision.
The article’s author argues that England have struggled at right-back in White’s absence, and suggests that Arsenal’s management of his playing time could help keep him among England’s options. The report says manager Mikel Arteta rotates White and Jurrien Timber amid fitness issues affecting both players, and that White could remain an option for the national team if he stays fit.
