Thomas Reis after Trabzonspor’s defeat to Freiburg: The team is bigger than one loss

Trabzonspor coach Thomas Reis admitted his team could have done more in their 0-1 defeat to Freiburg, but criticised what he saw as inconsistent refereeing in similar situations during the match.

Reis said he had asked the referee to explain some decisions and felt that similar situations had been dealt with differently depending on the team involved. He stressed that this did not absolve Trabzonspor of the need to review their performance, but emphasised the importance of consistency in refereeing decisions.

He added that, despite the pain of the defeat at their home ground, it did not erase what the players had achieved in recent weeks, and called on the fans to continue supporting them. He said fans had every right to be angry and demand more, but insisted the team would fight again and was bigger than one referee, one decision or one loss.
