Caicedo a doubt for Chelsea’s clash with Sunderland

Moisés Caicedo is a doubt for Chelsea’s match against Sunderland after missing the open part of Thursday’s training session. Manager Xabi Alonso said the midfielder was feeling discomfort in his lower leg and that the team would assess him after the final training session before Sunday’s game.
Alonso explained that the discomfort is different from Caicedo’s previous calf injury. He also said Jorrel Hato would be out for several more weeks, while João Pedro, Maxence Lacroix, Reece James and Jamie Gittens were not close to returning.
Goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, meanwhile, has returned to training and is an option after suffering a fractured jaw against Everton three weeks ago. Alonso said the goalkeeper was training well, but that the final decision on his involvement would be made after the last training session and before the match.
Chelsea previously lost to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on the final day of last season, after Sunderland had beaten them home and away during that season.
