Amr Adib: Leaving Hossam Hassan’s future unresolved serves neither him nor Egypt

Broadcaster Amr Adib said continued uncertainty over Hossam Hassan’s future with Egypt does not serve the coach or the national team, and called for a decision on whether he will stay or leave rather than prolonging the wait.
Speaking on his programme Al-Hekaya, Adib said the competing accounts of whether Hossam Hassan would stay or leave, along with reports that his media appearances were being restricted, put the coach in a difficult position. He said the national team manager should have a clear standing and defined powers, and that media restrictions could affect his image in the eyes of the players and the public.
Adib added that he would have resigned if decisions of this kind had been made, noting that Hossam Hassan had played an important role with the national team. He called for his tenure to be assessed clearly and said the coach has a history in Egyptian football and could work with other clubs or national teams if he ends his time with the national team.
