A report says Arsenal, Barcelona and Manchester United are interested in signing 28-year-old Colombian Luis Suárez, a striker for Sporting Lisbon. Citing Spanish newspaper Fichajes, the report says Atlético Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested.
A financial hurdle could complicate a January deal, as Suárez’s contract includes an €80 million release clause. The report says a transfer would require either activating the clause or negotiating with Sporting, and that a January departure is likely only for a substantial fee.
According to the report, Suárez joined Sporting from Almería in July 2025 and scored 38 goals and provided nine assists in 53 appearances in all competitions last season. After a dip in form at the 2026 World Cup, he has returned to form this season, scoring 13 goals and providing one assist in 15 appearances.
The report links Arsenal’s interest to the team’s attacking difficulties: Viktor Gyökeres has not scored in the Premier League this season, and has played 614 minutes and scored two goals in all matches so far. It also points to reports that he could leave. Manchester United, meanwhile, have monitored Suárez since his time at Almería, with Joshua Zirkzee potentially leaving in January and the team needing an alternative to compete with Benjamin Šeško, who has suffered recurring fitness problems this season.
As for Barcelona, the report says the club did not pursue a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski in the summer, and that Gabriel Jesus is a backup option. Signing a specialist striker could give the team greater flexibility against sides that defend deep. Interest from several clubs could lead to competition for Suárez and give Sporting the chance to secure a higher fee.
