Midfielder Trey Nyoni is close to agreeing a long-term contract with Liverpool, according to a report stating that the club wants to secure his future as part of its plans.
Nyoni, aged 19, started the team's last two matches, and the report expects his first-team minutes this season to approach two thousand. Liverpool signed him from Leicester City when he was 16, for around one million pounds, a fee set by a tribunal after the two clubs were unable to agree compensation.
Last summer, Nottingham Forest offered £30 million for Nyoni, an England youth international, but Liverpool quickly rejected the bid, signalling their intention to keep him as part of their plans for the future.
