Gerry Cardinale, founder of RedBird Capital Partners, which owns Milan, said the fund had held initial talks to assess an investment opportunity in Saudi club Al Nassr after representatives contacted him to discuss the matter.
Cardinale added that he works extensively in the Middle East and would like to meet Cristiano Ronaldo to learn about his interests and what he might want to do after retiring. He said he would continue to consider the possibility of a deal involving several clubs, given that the fund owns Milan and Toulouse.
The fund acquired an 85% majority stake in Toulouse in 2020, then completed its acquisition of Milan two years later. A report by Enterprise AM said that more than 40 local and international investors had expressed interest in investing in Saudi clubs by last June.
