Hossam El-Zanaty’s appointment as Zamalek sporting director remains delayed as he awaits agreement with the club’s board on his demands and the details and powers of the role. No date has been set for an official announcement, and the delay in resolving the matter has stalled some tasks related to his duties, foremost among them strengthening the first-team coaching staff.
One matter connected to the role is the appointment of a foreign coach to join Moataz Gamal’s coaching staff. El-Zanaty had recommended a Danish coach for the position, but the candidate signed with an English team and is no longer under consideration. Moataz Gamal agreed to the idea of adding a foreign coach, provided that responsibilities and roles are clearly defined to avoid any overlap.
If El-Zanaty takes up the role, Zamalek expects to benefit from his vision for developing the football system, organizing sports-related matters and defining responsibilities within the football department, as well as his involvement in strengthening the coaching staff and establishing a mechanism for managing matters related to the first team.
