Former Al Ahly star Walid Soliman advised Emam Ashour to take a look at himself after he was left out of the team’s plans in recent times, urging the midfielder to maintain his continuity at the club. He made the comments during a televised discussion about Ashour and Mohamed Hany being left out of Moroccan coach Hussein Ammouta’s plans.
Soliman said it was unfair to leave Mohamed Hany out because of a match in which he had not performed at his level. He said Al Ahly had a good squad, but considered that several players were not fulfilling the requirements of their positions, particularly the wingers, and that improving this would be reflected in the team’s performance.
He added that Emam Ashour, along with Achraf Bencharki and Ahmed Sayed Zizo, should be capable of leading the team. Soliman cited Aboutrika, Barakat and Emad Moteab as players who were accustomed to helping the team, warning that a lack of continuity could hinder a player’s career at big clubs.
