Unai Emery has urged Aston Villa’s players to raise their level and deliver more consistent performances ahead of Tuesday evening’s Champions League meeting with Barcelona at Camp Nou. His call came after Villa drew with Fulham, with Emery unhappy that his side lost control in the second half and allowed their opponents back into the game.
Emery noted that Aston Villa are unbeaten in their last five Premier League matches, recording three wins and two draws, but said those results were not enough to erase the impact of their difficult start to the season. He called on his team to change their approach quickly and keep working ahead of the European test.
Aston Villa face a challenge against Barcelona, who have lost only once at home this season, to Real Madrid. Emery believes his players must stay focused and consistent and avoid the drop-off they showed against Fulham.
