United were trailing 2-1 when Lacey came on for Amad. After Cunha was sent off in the closing minutes for receiving a second yellow card, Lacey moved back to right-back to help protect the lead. He said playing in that position was a new experience, but felt that taking on the role helped the team finish the match with a win.
Lacey described the win at Old Trafford as a special feeling, noting that Bruno Fernandes’ successful penalty changed the momentum of the second half. He was also modest about being described as an academy success story, stressing that he still has a long way to go.
