Matthias Jaissle denied feeling that his job as Newcastle manager was under threat, despite his side losing four of their last five matches. Newcastle lost 1-0 to Everton on Monday, their second consecutive defeat to the same team, and have managed just two wins in their last seven matches.
Jaissle said he does not follow what is written about his future, but feels the club is committed to the long-term project and sees no need for special meetings about the rumours. Newcastle are thirteenth in the Premier League and are preparing to face Fulham on Saturday.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, some players felt confused by the manager’s instructions for matches. Jaissle said, however, that the door is open for players to speak up if they find anything unclear, and that he believes the group understands what he is asking of them. He acknowledged that the team did not carry out much of what he wanted to do against Everton.
