Bayern Munich announced on Sunday that Moroccan player Ismail Saibari had undergone successful surgery on his right ankle after being injured in the 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. Tests showed a tear in the anterior inferior tibiofibular ligament, the club said.
Serge Gnabry also sustained a muscle injury to his left hamstring, and the club did not specify how long either player would be out. Bayern's statement did not address the condition of Michael Olise, who left the match against Dortmund limping in the closing minutes.
The injuries come as several players are already unavailable for Bayern, including Manuel Neuer, Jamal Musiala and Luis Díaz. Gnabry, 31, had recently returned to fitness after missing Germany's participation in the World Cup because of an adductor injury. The team had to use three players at left-back during the second half against Dortmund.
Bayern are preparing to face Atlético Madrid away on Tuesday in the Champions League. The club had confirmed that it was not interested in making signings during the winter transfer window next January.
