Eintracht Frankfurt beat Hamburg 3-1 to move up to eighth in the Bundesliga with 11 points. It was their second win over Hamburg in five days, following their victory in the German Cup.
Frankfurt opened the scoring in the tenth minute when Hamburg defender Warmed Omari turned Fares Chaïbi’s low cross into his own net. Hamburg equalised four minutes later: Albert Grønbæk passed the ball to Terem Moffi, who scored from close range after Lilian Brassier failed to deal with Miro Muheim’s pass.
After the break, Frankfurt regained the lead in the 47th minute when Rafael Onyedika followed up the rebound from goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes after a Brassier header. Fares Chaïbi’s goal was later ruled out for offside against Ansgar Knauff, before Can Uzun passed to Younes Ebnoutalib, who scored the third goal in the 69th minute.
In stoppage time, Frankfurt coach Adi Hütter brought on 16-year-and-one-day-old Nico Iličević, who made his Bundesliga debut. The source said he thereby equalled Youssoufa Moukoko’s record as the youngest player in the competition’s history. Ebnoutalib said the team had shown its fighting spirit and deserved the win.
Hamburg fell to fifteenth place with nine points. In another match, Union Berlin and Cologne drew 1-1, leaving Union in sixteenth place with seven points and Cologne in thirteenth place with nine points.
