Report: Manchester United considering loan move for Al Ahli’s Ivan Toney

CaughtOffside reports that Manchester United are exploring the possibility of loaning Al Ahli striker Ivan Toney, drawn by his Premier League experience and the physical presence he could bring to the attack.

The report says a loan could suit United, as the team need a striker who can step straight into the starting lineup, while spending a large sum on another young forward could pose a problem when Sesko returns. Experience, reliability and a shorter settling-in period could therefore be deciding factors.

The report adds that Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta remains an option, citing his Premier League record and the fact that his contract is nearing its end. It also notes that it was understandable for Manchester United to prioritise midfield in the summer, but the lack of a reliable backup striker now appears costly.
