Quique Sánchez Flores urges Alavés to end winless run before facing Sevilla

Quique Sánchez Flores called on Alavés players to respond quickly before Friday’s visit to Sevilla, after the team went two months without a league win and collected only two points from the last 21 available.
Alavés’ last La Liga win came when they beat Osasuna 5-2 on the sixth of September. Since then, they have lost to Racing, Valencia, Atlético, Celta and Barcelona, and drawn with Athletic and Málaga, bringing their results close to the relegation zone.
Sánchez Flores said the poor results had weakened the players’ confidence and left the group frustrated, adding that the priority was to restore their spirits. He said the team had gone through two psychologically and socially difficult weeks, and that a single win could help them emerge from their negative atmosphere and regain the belief they had at the start of the season.
The coach stressed that Alavés needed to simplify their play and return to the basics that had made them competitive at the start of the season. He felt that a positive result against Sevilla could ease the pressure and give the players a morale boost.
