Sports presenter Khaled El Ghandour said a dispute within Zamalek’s board over the football company centers on investors’ shareholding, after investors approached by the club asked to own the majority stake, preventing a final agreement so far.
El Ghandour noted fears within the club that giving investors a controlling stake would allow them to influence decisions concerning the football team and limit Zamalek’s role in managing it. In an attempt to reach a compromise, a proposal was put forward to include board members and businessmen affiliated with the club among the shareholders, in order to balance ownership and strategic decisions and prevent any Egyptian or foreign investor from taking sole control.
