Broadcaster Moheeb Abdel Hady defended Zamalek coach Moatamed Gamal amid calls to appoint a foreign manager, urging the club to trust and continue supporting Gamal through the end of the season. He said the club’s financial and technical circumstances were not conducive to meeting the demands of a foreign manager.
Speaking on his programme Al-Laeeb, Abdel Hady pointed to the financial crisis and the irregular payment of coaching staff members’ dues. He also asked which manager the club could appoint, how much it would cost and whether that manager would be willing to take the job. He considered that a foreign manager willing to work under the current circumstances might not be the right technical choice, and that changing the coach could add financial burdens without guaranteeing better results.
During the discussion, Abdel Wahed El Sayed said Moatamed Gamal should leave if results deteriorated, prompting Abdel Hady to ask who was available to replace him. Wael El Qabbani supported Abdel Hady’s position, saying that appointing a foreign manager would require financial resources and investment in the squad that the club could not currently provide.
El Qabbani added that Moatamed Gamal had dealt with difficult circumstances and had contributed to some extent to bringing the team together. Zamalek’s results had improved somewhat, although the performance remained below the required level and, in his words, the team relied more on momentum than on consistent performances.
