Mohamed Shabana Reveals Details of Zamalek Football Company Ownership

Broadcaster Mohamed Shabana said Zamalek’s board discussed the football company with general assembly members, amid questions about the club’s stake in the company and who will manage it.
Shabana reported that Hussein Labib said during the meeting that the board had not yet settled on the final ownership percentages. He also said the general assembly notice includes changing Zamalek’s share of the company’s capital to less than 51%, but not below 40%.
Shabana explained that the notice requires the company to be financially valued by an entity accredited by the regulatory authorities, while the club retains the rights to its trademark and logo, as well as priority to buy the stakes of partners or shareholders wishing to exit. He said reducing the club’s stake below 51% could mean it loses its controlling share, noting that ownership percentages alone do not determine who holds decision-making power and manages the company.
Shabana added that Labib confirmed there had been no agreement yet with a company specialising in football, and that the efforts aim to provide financial resources and try to address the club’s crises and debts accumulated over previous periods. Shabana welcomed efforts to secure resources, while calling for details of ownership and management to be clarified.
