Broadcaster Amir Hisham said the dispute between former Zamalek star Ahmed Hossam Mido and the club’s board, headed by Hussein Labib, has escalated, with both sides filing official complaints.
Hisham said Mido filed a complaint with the Public Prosecution against Zamalek’s board, while the board filed a complaint against him with the Supreme Council for Media Regulation. He added that the dispute centres mainly on the club’s vice-president, Hisham Nasr, rather than the entire board.
Hisham said the crisis escalated after social media accounts circulated information about financial dues worth $785 dating back to 2014. According to his account, Mido said he had paid the amount about a year and a half ago and called on the other party to pay $7 million.
Hisham added that personal disputes, if any, should not be linked to the club’s name or used to settle scores. He said Nasr had been delegated by the board to handle matters relating to the football team during the past period.
