Liverpool FC Women forward Cornelia Kapocs has won the October Player of the Month award after topping a fan poll on the club’s website. It is the second time she has received the award during her time with the team.
Natalia Ramos, who won the award the previous month, was Kapocs’s closest competitor in the poll. Kapocs featured in all four of Liverpool’s matches in October and started three of them.
Kapocs scored a hat-trick in 12 minutes after coming on as a substitute in Liverpool’s defeat to Manchester United in the Subway Women’s League Cup. She also played an important role in the team’s stoppage-time equaliser against London City Lionesses.
Kapocs said she was happy with the award, noting that the fans’ vote gave her extra confidence. She added that scoring her first hat-trick for the club was special, and that she had kept the ball, which her teammates signed. She said scoring goals was important for a forward and that it gave her a boost.
