Joe Cole Questions Wesley Fofana’s Ability to Succeed at Chelsea
Joe Cole criticised Wesley Fofana’s performance in Chelsea’s win over Manchester United, saying the French defender looked unaware in two situations. Fofana’s loss of possession to Amad in a dangerous area nearly gave United a chance to get back into the game.
Wesley Fofana’s performance in Chelsea’s win over Manchester United drew criticism from former Chelsea winger Joe Cole, who said on TNT Sports that the French defender looked unaware in two situations. Fofana’s loss of possession to Amad in a dangerous area nearly gave United a chance to get back into the game. The report says Fofana’s repeated mistakes in the match raise questions about his defensive awareness, while some Chelsea fans have called for him to leave or be dropped from the first team.
The report noted that Fofana joined Chelsea from Leicester City for an initial £70 million, with a further five million potentially payable, and that injuries limited him to 79 appearances in four years at Stamford Bridge.
