Barcelona goalkeeper Joan García faces a double test against Aston Villa in Tuesday’s match at Spotify Camp Nou in the fourth round of the Champions League league phase. The goalkeeper will look to put the disappointment of conceding a goal in the final minutes against Alavés behind him and help end his team’s run of conceding in the competition.
Sport reported that Barcelona conceded six goals in their first three European games and have gone 18 consecutive Champions League matches without keeping a clean sheet. Their most recent European clean sheet came against Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the quarter-finals in April 2025, and they also failed to prevent their opponents from scoring in any European match they played last season.
Barcelona have kept a clean sheet in just four of their 11 La Liga matches, three of them in the first four rounds. Since 9 September, they have done so only once, against Getafe at home.
Speaking in an interview with Sport 3, García said he felt some disappointment despite the comfortable win over Alavés. He added that goalkeepers want to keep clean sheets, but winning and taking all three points remain the most important things.
