Harry Kane, Bayern Munich striker and 2026 Ballon d’Or winner, said his style sets him apart from traditional strikers and that he hopes to change how future generations view the centre-forward role.
Kane said, in comments reported by Tribuna, that he combines scoring goals with dropping into midfield to contribute to build-up play and defensive duties. He said he believes this style could give young players a different idea of a striker’s responsibilities, adding that he is proud of it.
Kane noted that his path to the top differed from those of previous Ballon d’Or winners, and that early in his career there were difficult moments when some people did not expect him to reach this level. He attributed his achievement to hard work, resilience and determination, adding that people who understand football admired his style of play and his approach to matches.
