Aston Villa drew with visitors Fulham in the Premier League after a mistake by Villa goalkeeper Zion Suzuki led to the equaliser. Nicolas Jackson had put the hosts ahead in the first half, but they could not hold on to their lead.
Jackson scored in the 39th minute after running onto a pass from Johan Manzambi and getting past David Avenger and Brent Timothy Castagne before shooting past Bernd Leno. Villa had been awarded a penalty earlier after Sander Berge handled the ball, following referee Sam Barrott’s review of the incident on the pitchside monitor on the recommendation of VAR official Matthew Donohue; however, John McGinn’s penalty came back off the crossbar.
In the second half, Suzuki spilled a cross from Alex Iwobi’s corner and the ball crossed the goal line, giving Fulham the equaliser. The goalkeeper had earlier saved an attempt by Oscar Bobb, then stopped a shot from Gonzalo Garcia in the second half. The source said Jackson scored his sixth goal in all competitions during October, the highest tally among Premier League players that month.
