Ole Werner emerges as candidate to replace Marino Pušić at Saudi Al-Ahli

German coach Ole Werner is back among the candidates to lead Saudi Al-Ahli for the remainder of the season, replacing Dutchman Marino Pušić, according to Asharq Al-Awsat. The club is considering the possibility of signing him, the report says.
Media reports had said that Al-Ahli’s management wanted to end Pušić’s tenure because of poor results, but faced a financial obstacle. Werner had previously come close to taking charge of the team last August after Matthias Jaissle resigned. At the time, he agreed to an initial offer estimated at 11 million euros a year, before backing out because he wanted to take a break.
Al-Ahli signed Pušić after negotiations with Werner stalled. The Dutch coach managed the team in 18 matches, recording 11 wins and two draws, and suffering five defeats.
Werner had left his position as Leipzig coach after one season, in which the team finished third in the German league and was knocked out of the German Cup in the quarter-finals.
