Report: INEOS structure could complicate Unai Emery’s move from Aston Villa to Manchester United
Unai Emery could find it difficult to turn down the chance to manage Manchester United if the club decide to part ways with Michael Carrick, a report says. But INEOS’s structure and the potential authority he would have at Old Trafford could stand in the way of a move from Aston Villa.

A report says Unai Emery could find it difficult to turn down the chance to manage Manchester United if the club decide to part ways with Michael Carrick, but INEOS’s structure and the potential authority he would have at Old Trafford could stand in the way of a move from Aston Villa.
Talk about Carrick’s future comes after United’s defeat to Chelsea on Saturday and ahead of their next match against Roma. He is expected to remain in the role until the November international break, which ends with a match against Aston Villa. The report noted that Villa want to keep Emery, who is under contract until 2029, and that he enjoys broader authority at the club than he might have at United.
The report said Eddie Howe is the preferred choice of director of football Jason Wilcox, while recruitment chief Christopher Vivell supports Julian Nagelsmann. It also named Antonio Conte and Cesc Fàbregas as other candidates under consideration.
