Cerezo urges Álvarez to play and score ahead of Barcelona clash

Atlético Madrid president Enrique Cerezo said Julián Álvarez had apologised and admitted his mistake, and that he now needed to play and score goals, ahead of the La Liga clash with Barcelona.
Atlético host Barcelona at the Metropolitano next Sunday, with two points separating the teams in the league standings. A win could give the hosts a chance to take top spot. Cerezo expressed confidence in his team's ability to win.
Asked whether Barcelona president Joan Laporta would enquire about Álvarez's future, Cerezo replied that Laporta would get his answer. He also said he was satisfied with Atlético's performances, and that the team would try to win its next Champions League match and pursue a place among the top eight if possible.
