Sport reports that Barcelona have begun exploring a move for Tottenham’s Spanish full-back Pedro Porro during the upcoming winter transfer window. The Catalan club has contacted people close to the player, who is open to a move.
According to the report, Hansi Flick approves of the deal, while Tottenham value Porro at around €70 million, a sum beyond Barcelona’s means. The club has told the player’s camp that they need to help lower the asking price to bring it in line with market standards.
Completing the deal in January looks difficult unless Barcelona sell one of their defenders, with signing a left-footed centre-back remaining a more urgent priority. The report says injuries to Eric Garcia, Jules Koundé and Xavi Espart affected the team’s performances against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta had previously expressed his desire to sign Porro, saying he sees him as a missing piece in the defence after watching him at the World Cup with Spain.
