Report: Al-Ittihad ownership transfer could be delayed until the end of 2027

Okaz newspaper reported that the process of selecting a new investor for Al-Ittihad is ongoing, and that the ownership transfer could extend to the end of 2027, depending on the results of the applicants’ evaluations.
According to a source close to the club’s management, the review includes examining financial solvency, funding sources and liabilities, as well as assessing investors’ ability to own and manage Al-Ittihad. The applicants include local and foreign investors; foreign investment requires a local partner, while a local investor may apply independently to acquire a stake of up to 70%, subject to the specified conditions.
The source said negotiations are ongoing and that the applicants’ files have reached advanced stages of financial and administrative evaluation, without disclosing the investors’ identities or specifying a final date for the deal. The source added that the timing of the ownership transfer depends on completing the evaluations and approving their results, which could delay a decision until the end of 2027.
