Sport: Atlético Madrid clashes are a headache for Flick and Barcelona

Catalan newspaper Sport says Atlético Madrid have become a stumbling block for Hansi Flick’s Barcelona ahead of the teams’ eagerly awaited meeting on Sunday in the twelfth round of the 2026-2027 Spanish league season.
The match will be played at the Wanda Metropolitano at ten p.m. Cairo and Mecca time. Barcelona top the standings with 30 points, two ahead of second-placed Atlético Madrid.
According to Sport, the match could affect the title race given how close the teams are in the standings. The newspaper noted that Atlético knocked Barcelona out of the Champions League and the Copa del Rey last season, and that defensive gaps remain a source of concern for Flick.
The report added that Barcelona go into the match after defeats to Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, and that a win would give them a five-point lead over Atlético.
