AFC Postpones 2027 Asian Cup to December
The Asian Football Confederation has postponed the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia. The tournament, featuring 24 teams, will now run from December 23, 2027, to January 21, 2028, instead of its previous dates of January 7 to February 5, 2027.

The Asian Football Confederation has announced the postponement of the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia. The tournament, featuring 24 teams, will take place from December 23, 2027, to January 21, 2028, instead of its previous dates of January 7 to February 5, 2027.
The confederation explained that the decision followed discussions with the local organising committee and the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, amid exceptional circumstances, logistical challenges and travel disruptions that could affect the organisation of the tournament. It noted that the regional situation and the difficulties of holding the competition as scheduled made postponement necessary in the interests of the participating teams, officials, fans and other stakeholders.
Matches are due to be played in Riyadh, Jeddah and Al Khobar. The new dates will be submitted to FIFA for approval, while organisers said they would continue preparations in coordination with the Asian confederation, which will work with national associations, sponsors, broadcasters and partners to limit the impact of the postponement.
