Nigerian club Beyond Limits announced that Beninese striker Merveille Akinosho has signed a long-term contract with Spanish side Villarreal, marking his move to European football.
Akinosho had been on Villarreal’s radar, but waited until he turned 18 to complete the move. He will initially join the club’s under-19 team to continue his development and adapt to European football, with the possibility of featuring in competitions such as the UEFA Youth League as he seeks to progress towards the professional team.
Last season, Akinosho scored 12 goals and provided three assists for Beyond Limits in Nigeria’s Creative Championship.
