Newcastle United are looking to extend defender Valentino Livramento’s contract despite his recurring injury problems, according to a report by Football Insider. The club do not plan to let the player go, viewing him as an important part of its present and future.
Livramento has had fitness problems over the past eighteen months. He made just 14 starts in the Premier League last season, and made two league appearances this season before missing out with a new knee problem. He also returned from England’s pre-World Cup training camp after suffering an issue in one of the warm-up matches.
Livramento can play at right-back and left-back, and joined Newcastle in 2023. His current contract expires in the summer of 2028, while the club could offer him a new deal. The report says Manchester City have previously shown interest in him, and reports have also linked Barcelona with the player, but there are no indications that he wants to leave.
