A report says Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrímsson is keeping tabs on young Manchester United player Shea Lacey, who is eligible to represent Ireland through his father despite having previously played for England’s youth teams.
Asked about the possibility of Lacey switching his international allegiance, Hallgrímsson said the matter was up to other people at the association, adding that the player’s Irish connection was interesting.
Lacey played the final 15 minutes of Manchester United’s Champions League match against Roma and helped turn a 1-2 deficit into a 3-2 win, providing the pass from which Matheus Cunha scored the winning goal.
